An Event For: Educators - Grades 7-12

DIBELS Content Area Reading Indicators (CARI)

This Content Area Reading Indicators training is designed for individuals who are interested in using CARI to gather information about reading skills for students in grades 7-12. In order to use CARI during the 2018-2019 school year, schools must sign up as a research partner with Dynamic Measurement Group. Research partners may use the CARI assessments school-wide or try them out with just a few students.

Event Description

Note: SCECHs are pending for this event.

CARI stands for Content Area Reading Indicators, and is a formative assessment for 7th to 9th grade students. The CARI is directly aligned with the Common Core Standards in Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies and includes a Daze comprehension, a Silent Reading (SR) comprehension, and an Oral Reading (OR) measure. Each measure is arranged in triads which include one science passage, one social studies passage, and one prose passage.

This training will provide participants with the information necessary to administer and score the CARI assessments. Participants will still need to review the administration and scoring procedures and have opportunities for additional practice prior to using the assessment with students.
